An Air Canada Airbus A320-200, registration C-FTJQ performing flight AC-948 from Montreal,QC (Canada) to Pointe-a-Pitre (Guadeloupe) with 89 passengers and 6 crew, was enroute at FL350 near Bermuda when the crew received indication of the left spoilers being up unexpectedly. The crew consulted with dispatch and maintenance and decided to return to Montreal where the aircraft landed safely on runway 24L with emergency services in attendance.

A replacement A319-100 registration C-FYKC reached Pointe-a-Pitre with a delay of about 6.5 hours.

The Canadian TSB reported spoiler actuator 1R was replaced.
