An Azores Airlines Airbus A330-200, registration CS-TRY performing flight S4-321 from Lisbon to Ponta Delgada (Portugal), had already been delayed by about 8.5 hours due to technical problems that were being worked on. The aircraft finally departed from Lisbon's runway 03 when the crew requested to level off at 4000 feet and enter a hold due to an issue. The aircraft entered a hold, the crew advised of a hydraulic fault, they needed to return to Lisbon. The aircraft landed safely on Lisbon's runway 03 about 35 minutes after departure.

The aircraft is still on the ground in Lisbon about 28.5 hours after scheduled departure time.

Passengers reported after landing back they were told the aircraft would depart at 05:00am and thus spent the night at the airport, then the departure was postponed to the afternoon.
