An Eurowings Airbus A320-200, registration D-AIQM performing flight EW-598 from Cologne (Germany) to Palma Mallorca,SP (Spain), was on final approach to Palma Mallorca's runway 24L when the crew initiated a go around at about 1500 feet MSL reporting a problem with the flaps. The aircraft climbed to FL100 while the crew were working the checklists and landed safely on Palma Mallorca's runway 24L at a rather normal speed about 50 minutes after the go-around.

The aircraft remained on the ground for about 3.5 hours, then departed for the return flight EW-599.

A passenger booked onto the return flight EW-599 reported while waiting for the flight at the gate they were told only, that the aircraft needed maintenance repeatedly announcing further delays. After boarding the captain explained the delay stating that there had been a problem with the landing flaps on the arrival into Palma requiring a second approach and subsequent troubleshooting and repair.
