An Air Astana Airbus A320-200, registration P4-XAS performing flight KC-869 from Atyrau (Kazakhstan) to Istanbul (Turkey) with 136 passengers and 8 crew, landed on Ataturk Airport's runway 05 but struck its tail onto the runway at 10:20L (07:20Z). The aircraft continued the landing and rolled out without further incident. No injuries occurred, the aircraft received substantial damage to its tail.

The return flight KC-870 was cancelled.
