A Kalitta Air Boeing 747-400 on behalf of THY Turkish Airlines, registration N701CK performing flight TK-6491 from Hong Kong (China) to Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan), was climbing out of Hong Kong's runway 07L when the crew, already cleared to climb to 8000 meters (FL260), reported a problem with the gear and requested to stop the climb and dump fuel. The aircraft was cleared to maintain FL090, dumped fuel, advised the landing would be normal and returned to Hong Kong for a safe landing on runway 07L about 65 minutes after departure.

The occurrence aircraft was able to depart again after about 16.5 hours on the ground and reached Bishkek with a delay of about 18 hours.
