A Condor Boeing 767-300, registration D-ABUB performing flight DE-2409 from Recife,PE (Brazil) to Munich (Germany), was preparing for departure in Recife, when after engine start a strong odour developed in the cabin causing passengers to complain about the odour. The aircraft departed, the odour occurred during takeoff again and dissipated. The aircraft continued to Munich where the aircraft landed safely about 9 hours after departure. A flight attendant became increasing ill during the flight and was taken to a hospital.

The aircraft was removed from service, positioned to Frankfurt/Main (Germany) about 3.5 hours after landing, remained on the ground in Frankfurt for about 17 hours, then returned to service.

Germany's BFU reported on Mar 26th 2018, that the occurrence had been reported to them, they are currently collecting further information to rate the occurrence.

On Mar 27th 2018 The Aviation Herald received information that there had been a pungent sweet smokey odour of overheated sweaty feet in the forward to mid cabin, the odour became extremely strong near the forward lavatories.

On Apr 10th 2018 the BFU reported that the BFU did not rate the occurrence an accident or serious incident, hence no investigation has been opened.
