A Mesa Airlines Canadair CRJ-900 on behalf of American Airlines, registration N938LR performing flight YV-5834/AA-5834 from Huntsville,AL to Dallas Ft. Worth,TX (USA), had normally communicated with ground and tower while taxiing for departure, received takeoff clearance from runway 18R but no read back was received, tower repeated the clearance again without receiving a read back. The aircraft departed Huntsville's runway 18R, did not report on departure frequency but instead set the transponder code to loss of communication. The aircraft continued the climb to FL340 towards Dallas, after levelling off erroneously squawked the code for illegal interference before returning the code to loss of communication, and continued to Dallas for a safe landing on runway 35C about 100 minutes after departure still squawking loss of communication.

The aircraft remained on the ground for 4 days before returning to service on Feb 8th 2018.
