A Sat Airlines de Havilland Dash 8-300, registration RA-67251 from HZ-806 from Shakhtyorsk to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk (Russia) with 14 passengers and 3 crew, was climbing through 1400 feet out of Shakhtyorsk when the left hand side of the aircraft lit up and the crew noticed no deviations of the cockpit indications. No thunderstorm cells were noticed around, no lightning activity had been observed, the aircraft was still below the cloud base. The crew decided to continue the flight to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk for a safe landing.

Rosaviatsia reported the post flight examination revealed nose cone damage related to atmospheric discharge. An investigation has been opened.
