A Lufthansa Airbus A350-900, registration D-AIXF performing flight LH-762 from Munich (Germany) to Delhi (India) with 268 people on board, was enroute at FL370 about 30nm northwest of Bucharest (Romania) when the crew requested to return to Munich reporting one of the batteries had broken down and they couldn't ship a replacement battery to Delhi, therefore they needed to return. The aircraft turned around, climbed to FL380 and landed safely back in Munich about 2 hours later.

The flight was cancelled.

A passenger reported the captain announced one of the four main batteries had failed. While it would be safe to continue the flight, no replacement battery was available in Delhi. The flight was cancelled, the passengers were rebooked onto other flights.
