A Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-700, registration N284WN performing flight WN-4046 from Sacramento,CA to Santa Ana,CA (USA) with 103 passengers, was enroute at FL370 about 140nm north of Los Angeles,CA (USA) when the crew decided to divert to Los Angeles due to a burning odour in the cabin. The aircraft landed safely on Los Angeles' runway 24L about 25 minutes later.

A replacement Boeing 737-700 registration N7743B reached Santa Ana with a delay of 90 minutes.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for 15 hours then returned to service.

The airline reported the aircraft diverted to Los Angeles due to a burning odour in the cabin. 8 passengers were rerouted through Los Angeles, the others continued to Santa Ana on a replacement aircraft.
