An Indigo Airbus A320-200, registration VT-IEO performing flight 6E-347 from Ranchi to Kolkata (India) with 142 passengers and 6 crew, was on approach to Kolkata's runway 19L in adverse weather conditions, the first officer (CPL, 2,617 hours total, 2,348 hours on type) as pilot flying queried the captain (ATPL, 18,083 hours total, 13,733 hours on type), whether the captain wanted to take control however received no reply and continued control of the aircraft. About 2 minutes prior to touchdown the wind changed direction from 140 to 310 degrees and increased from 5 to 8 knots, visibility reduced from 2800 to 2000 meters. A high rate of descent developed, the captain noticed the rate and instructed the first officer to correct, then just prior to touch down the captain provided control inputs however could not prevent touchdown at 838 fpm, 5.6 degrees nose up and +3.126G vertical acceleration (structural limit +2.6G) at 13:52L (08:22Z).

There were no injuries, the aircraft did not receive damage (as a following examination determined).

India's DGCA released their final report concluding the probable causes of the incident were:

Sudden changes in weather conditions and improper input by First officer resulted high Rate of Descent (ROD).

High ROD and delayed decision by the PIC to take-over the controls are the probable causes of the occurrence.

The DGCA reported the pilots perceived the landing as normal, however, an automated hard landing report was issued. The aircraft subsequently remained on the ground until Jul 21st 2015, then ferried to Delhi for further inspections and returned to service on Jul 25th 2015.
