A Sun Express Deutschland Boeing 737-800, registration D-ASXF performing flight XG-4733 from Dusseldorf (Germany) to Marsa Alam (Egypt), was enroute at FL330 about 7nm west of Munich (Germany) when the crew decided to return to Dusseldorf due to problems with the cabin pressure. After turning around the crew initiated a descent to FL270 and further to FL160. Near Dusseldorf the aircraft entered a hold at FL060 to burn off fuel and landed safely back in Dusseldorf about 2.5 hours after departure.

A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration D-ASXO reached Marsa Alam with a delay of 6.5 hours and performed the return flight XG-4732 scheduled to land in Dusseldorf, but needed to divert to Cologne (Germany) due to night curfew as result of the delay.

A passenger booked on the return flight reported they were told the original aircraft had suffered a slow decompression.
