A SATA Air Acores de Havilland Dash 8-400, registration CS-TRF performing flight SP-479 from Pico Island to Lajes (Portugal) with 26 people on board, was descending towards Lajes when the crew reported smoke in the cockpit. The aircraft continued for a safe landing in Lajes. A rapid disembarkation was performed after landing.

The airline reported there was smoke in the cockpit prompting the crew to declare emergency. The aircraft landed without further incident, as soon as the aircraft had landed the crew initiated a rapid disembarkation. There were no injuries and no damage. The aircraft was being examined and repaired.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Lajes (Terceira Island) 51 hours later.
