A Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-700, registration N202WN performing flight WN-5509 from Fort Lauderdale,FL to Islip,NY (USA), departed Fort Lauderdale's runway 10L when the aircraft sustained a bird strike to the nose gear. In the absence of abnormal indications the crew continued the flight and was enroute at FL410 about 80nm eastsoutheast of Baltimore,MD (USA) when the crew decided to divert to Baltimore due to a hydraulic leak. The aircraft landed safely in Baltimore about 35 minutes later.

The FAA reported the aircraft sustained a bird strike onto the nose wheel hydraulic line on takeoff and received damage.

A replacement Boeing 737-700 registration N245WN reached Islip with a delay of 160 minutes.
