On Oct 15th 2017 the mother reported that her little girl died in intensive care when doctors could not resuscitate her anymore after the 4th cardiac arrest since the accident despite attempting to get her out of the cardiac arrest for 30 minutes.
Russian Prosecutors reported that the pivoting part of the stairs had been repaired prior to the accident, the repair however had been sub-standard. The lead mechanics overseeing the repairs was detained, charges have been brought against the mechanics for rendering services which did not meet the security requirements to protect life or health of consumers as well as for tacky repairs of vehicles or other transport equipment. In addition, charges have been brought against other unnamed officials for negligence and recklessness causing serious harm to human health.
On Nov 3rd 2017 Rosaviatsia released their final report in Russian concluding the probable cause of the accident was:
The destruction of the turning axis connecting the top platform to the stairs.
The destruction of the axis was the result of the non-repair of the mobile platform and the failure by the responsible officials to monitor the technical conditions of the mobile stairs.
Rosaviatsia reported that during disembarkation there was a sudden collapse of the upper platform of the mobile stairs causing a mother and her infant to fall onto the apron. As result of this fall the child received serious injuries and later died. Following the collapse the disembarkation was halted, the front door was closed and the remaining passengers on board disembarked through the aft doors. A post occurrence inspection revealed the aircraft had not been damaged, other passengers and crew were not injured.
