A Brussels Airlines Airbus A319-100, registration OO-SSK performing flight SN-3233 from Brussels (Belgium) to Rhodes (Greece), was climbing out of Brussels when the captain stopped the climb at about FL270 reporting the first officer had fallen ill and decided to return to Brussels. The aircraft landed safely back on Brussels' runway 25L about 22 minutes after stopping the climb.

The aircraft remained on the ground for about 2 hours, then was able to depart again and reached Rhodes with a delay of 2.5 hours.

The airport confirmed the first officer had become ill in flight.
