A Hong Kong Airlines Airbus A330-300, registration B-LNT performing flight HX-693 from Sapporo (Japan) to Hong Kong (China) with 223 passengers and 12 crew, was climbing through FL380 out of Sapporo when the crew initiated an emergency descent due to the loss of cabin pressure, the passenger oxygen masks were not released. The aircraft levelled off at FL100 about 7 minutes later and returned to Sapporo for a safe landing about 90 minutes after departure.
