An Air Canada Airbus A320-200, registration C-FXCD performing flight AC-1235 from Fort Myers,FL (USA) to Toronto,ON (Canada) with 145 people on board, was enroute when the crew received an "L/G LGCIU 1 FAULT" ECAM message and worked the related checklists. On approach to Toronto, when selecting the gear down, the gear failed to extend, the crew released the the gear into the down and locked position using the alternate gear extension. The aircraft landed without further incident and was towed to the apron.

The Canadian TSB reported maintenance replaced the landing gear safety valve. The aircraft was placed on jacks and gear swings conducted without further faults.
