A TAP Airbus A320-200, registration CS-TQD performing flight TP-352 from Lisbon (Portugal) to London Heathrow,EN (UK), was climbing out of Lisbon's runway 03 when the crew stopped the climb at about FL180 reporting an unusual odour on board and decided to return to Lisbon. Air Traffic Control sent other aircraft on approach into holds advising them of an emergency with smoke on board. The A320 landed safely on Lisbon's runway 21 (active runway 03) about 22 minutes after departure.

A replacement Airbus A320-200 registration CS-TNN reached London with a delay of 2.5 hours.
