A Jetblue Airbus A320-200, registration N520JB performing flight B6-497 from Boston,MA to Seattle,WA (USA), departed Boston's runway 09 and was in the initial climb contacting departure when the crew advised departure that they had a bird strike at about the 1000 foot mark of the runway. The crew levelled off at 8000 feet and advised they might return to Boston and requested to receive vectors to keep them into the area, it appeared everything was normal, the bird appeared to have hit the right hand side and might have impacted the engine (V2527) but they weren't sure. The crew subsequently decided to return to Boston advising, there were no abnormal indications and everything appeared just fine, and landed safely on Boston's runway 04R about 35 minutes after departure.

A replacement A320-200 registration N531JL reached Seattle with a delay of 2 hours.

The FAA reported the engine received substantial damage when it ingested birds on departure from Boston.
