A Skywest Airlines Canadair CRJ-200 on behalf of United, registration N979SW performing flight OO-5277/UA-5277 from Chicago O'Hare,IL (USA) to Winnipeg,MB (Canada) with 33 people on board, was enroute when the crew received an ECAM message "FLAP FAIL". The crew decided to continue to Winnipeg and prepare for a flaps 0 landing. The aircraft landed safely at a higher than normal speed with emergency services on stand by.

The Canadian TSB reported that the FAA had issued an air worthiness directive (AD) on the flaps system, with the coordination of flight crew the operator's maintenance was able to reset the flaps system. The aircraft was subsequently flown director to the operator's maintenance base for further completion of the AD requirements.
