A PAL Philippine Airlines Airbus A321-200, registration RP-C9919 performing flight PR-1814 from Davao to Manila (Philippines) with 131 people on board, was climbing through FL200 out of Davao's runway 23 when the crew received an aft cargo smoke indication and decided to return to Davao for a safe landing on runway 23 about 30 minutes after departure. Attending emergency services found no trace of fire, smoke or heat.

The airline confirmed the crew received a cargo smoke indication and executed the related checklists to suppress a possible cargo fire. No trace of fire, heat or smoke was found after landing however.
