A Wizz Air Airbus A320-200, registration HA-LWB performing flight W6-2452 from Larnaca (Cyprus) to Budapest (Hungary), was enroute at FL360 about 200nm southeast of Thessaloniki (Greece) still in Turkish Airspace when the crew decided to divert to Thessaloniki reporting the smell of smoke in the cockpit. The aircraft landed safely on Thessaloniki's runway 16 about 25 minutes later.

The passengers were taken to hotels over night.

The occurrence aircraft was able to continue the flight the following day after about 19 hours on the ground and reached Budapest with a delay of 19.5 hours.

The airline confirmed a technical fault requiring an unscheduled maintenance. The passengers were taken to hotels and were provided with meals and accomodation.
