A Fedex Federal Express McDonnell Douglas MD-10, registration N554FE performing freight flight FX-1537 from Memphis,TN to Harlingen,TX (USA) with 2 crew, was enroute at FL340 about 40nm south of Houston Intercontinental Airport when the crew received a cargo smoke indication and diverted to Houston's Intercontinental Airport for a safe landing on runway 27 about 15 minutes later. Attending emergency services found no trace of fire, heat or smoke.

The aircraft departed Houston after about 3:20 hours on the ground and reached Harlingen with a total delay of 4:20 hours.
