An Air France Boeing 777-200, registration F-GSPF performing flight AF-84 from Paris Charles de Gaulle (France) to San Francisco,CA (USA), was enroute at FL320 about 80nm northwest of Inverness,SC (UK) when the crew decided to return to Paris due to one of the two air conditioning systems having failed. The aircraft descended to FL310 for the return and landed safely back in Paris about 3:50 hours after departure.

The aircraft is being assessed.

The airline reported that one of the two air conditioning systems failed. The crew could have continued the flight to San Francisco but elected to return to Paris to "keep flight safety at highest level".
